Golgi wurde am 7. Juli 1844 in Corteno (Provinz Brescia, Italien) geboren. Er studierte an der Universit¤t Padua und war Professor f¼r Histologie und Pathologie an den Universit¤ten in Siena und Pavia. Seine wichtigen wissenschaftlichen Beitr¤ge leistete Golgi durch Untersuchungen des Nervengewebes. Er war der Erste, der Silbernitrat f¼r die F¤rbung und mikroskopische Untersuchung von Nervengewebe verwendete und konnte damit den Aufbau der Nervenzellforts¤tze sichtbar machen ( siehe Zelle: Golgi-Apparat ). La scoperta della reazione cromoargentica
Anteprima della sezione Dopo avere lavorato per breve tempo in un ospedale per il trattamento delle malattie mentali, in cui ebbe come maestro il medico Cesare Lombroso , si dedic² agli studi di anatomia microscopica. Nel 1873, quando esercitava la professione di medico in un ospedale ad Abbiategrasso, effettu² in un piccolo laboratorio un’importante scoperta: la messa a punto di una nuova tecnica di fissazione e colorazione delle cellule nervose , che egli sottoponeva alla cosiddetta reazione cromoargentica (in cui utilizzava bicromato di potassio e nitrato d’argento).
