Z Erik Axel Karlfeldt Biography Erik Axel Karlfeldt (November 20, 1864 - April 8, 1931) was a Swedish poet whose essentially regional, tradition-bound poetry was extremely popular and won him the Nobel Prize in Literature posthumously in 1931; he had refused it in 1918.
In 1904 Karlfeldt was elected a member of the Swedish Academy and held chair number 11. In 1912 he was elected permanent secretary of the Academy, a position he held until his death.

Dopo aver insegnato per diversi anni, fu direttore della biblioteca e poi segretario dell'Accademia di Svezia. Nelle sue liriche, ispirate alla vita agreste e alla natura e spesso attraversate da una sottile ironia, vi ¨ un abile uso della metrica e di forme linguistiche arcaiche. Tra le sue raccolte di poesia si ricordano Canti selvatici e d'amore I canti di Fridolin Flora e Pomona Flora e Bellona (1918) e Corno autunnale In quanto membro dell'Accademia di Svezia dal 1912, nel 1920 non accett² il premio Nobel , che gli venne assegnato postumo nel 1931.
