Mother Teresa Quotes on Love
Quotes by Mother Teresa on Love
The success of love is in the loving
- it is not in the result of loving.
Of course it is natural in love to want the best for the other person,
but whether it turns out that way or not
does not determine the value
of what we have done It is not how much we do,
but how much love we put in the doing.
It is not how much we give,
but how much love we put in the giving. If we really want to love
we must learn how to forgive. We can do no great things; only small things with great love. There is a terrible hunger for love. We all experience that in our lives - the pain, the loneliness. We must have the courage to recognize it. The poor you may have right in your own family. Find them.

For over forty years, she ministered to the needs of the poor, sick, orphaned, and dying of Calcutta (Kolkata). As the Missionaries of Charity grew under Mother's leadership, they expanded their ministry to other countries. By the 1970s she had become internationally famed as a humanitarian and advocate for the poor and helpless, due in part to a documentary , and book, Something Beautiful for God by Malcolm Muggeridge Following her death she was beatified by Pope John Paul II and given the title Blessed Teresa of Calcutta

    Mother Teresa and Missionaries
    by Edward T. Babinski
"If missionaries were high on themselves, why do they give up the comforts they have of living in the US and to out into the middle of nowhere and live in a grass hut?" Ed: So long as they don't move into the grass hut next to mine, just so they can knock on my door, tell me what a sinner I am and try to noodge me into their Bible class so that I can learn all about how my soul will fry eternally unless I believe and act as they do. Personally, I think that missionaries of the sort I've just described (rather than the strictly medical and educational kind), are nuisances par excellence. And yes, those kinds of missionaries probably DO get quite a kick out of seeing others convert to their faith, it empowers them and makes them happy in ways that money and fame do not. And in that sense YES, it is a selfish endeavour to constantly have to prop up your soul and beliefs with "missionary work." Or as Nietzsche once pointed out, even self-despisers grow proud of the very fact that they have learned to despise themselves. "Look at Mother Theresa...who is my role model. She was a nun...but she also chose to live in poverty, among those who had nothing....she didn't take money from anyone, and if she did, she used it to help those she worked with. She was the perfect example of Christ and what missionaries are supposed to do."

    MOTHER TERESA
Dear Children, Today I am going to tell you how love, faith and service can bring joy to so many human beings. For that I will have to introduce you to Mother Teresa. Mother Teresa was given the name Agnes Gonxha when she was born on th August 1910 in Skopje, Macedonia. Young Agnes left her parental home at the age of 18 years and became a nun. She joined the Sisters of Loreto. She came to Calcutta. When she saw the poverty and suffering outside the convent walls, she devoted herself to work for ‘the poorest of the poor’. She had no money, but she had faith that God would help her and He did! Soon, voluntary helpers and financial help poured in and she steadily increased her good work. She extended her care for people who had nobody to look after them. She looked after the homeless, alcoholics, lepers and people with aids and other incurable diseases. Mother Teresa received many awards. She received the Peace Prize from Pope John XXIII in 1971 and the Nehru Prize for her promotion of international peace and understanding (1972). She also received the Balzan Prize (1979) and the Templeton and Magsaysay awards.

Mother Teresa - the saint from Skopje,
    the citizen of the world.
Home Back Go to Google-Earth to see the house of Mother Teresa... Citizen of Skopje, citizen of the world Gonxha Agnesa Bojaxhiu, known as Mother Teresa or the Mother from Calcutta, was born on 26 August 1910 in Skopje, now the Republic of Macedonia, which was a part of the huge Turkish Empire at the beginning of the century. The contradictions about the personality of this extraordinary woman, who unselfishly devoted her whole life to the cause of humanity, date back to the day she was born. According to certain sources, she was born on 27 August and baptized in the Catholic Church Sacred Heart in Skopje. This date is taken as her birthday.
Gonxha Bojaxhiu, in remote India and impoverished Calcutta, as Mother Teresa, in 1950 with the blessing of the Pope created the Missionaries of Charity , a mission that is today covered by over 3,840 sisters living and working in 561 houses. Gonxha started to dream about her assignment on the cobblestone streets of old Skopje. Mother Teresa, modest, energetic, remarkably warm, with kindness in her thoughts and behaviour, represented a synonym for all that is good, noble and honest in helping those who needed it most. This was something she did with the greatest sincerity. For many, Mother Teresa was a saint according to the old canon rules: pious, gentle, conscientious, strong, virtuous, simple.

Mother Teresa Angel of Mercy Mother Teresa : "Angel of Mercy"
On October 19, 2003, Pope John Paul II beautified Mother Teresa in Rome, taking her one step closer to sainthood . The beatification of the Macedonia-born nun could be a step towards her being named a saint of a Catholic Church.
In 2002, the Holy Father recognised a miracle needed to beatify Mother Teresa of Calcutta. The miracle coincided with Mother Teresa's first death anniversary in 1998, when a non-Christian woman in India who had an abdominal tumor woke up to find herself cured. Members of the Missionaries of Charity had prayed for their founder's intervention to help the sick woman. After her beatification, the recognition of another miracle will be required for sainthood.
When she was alive, Mother Teresa was called "a living saint". A mere six years after her death, she is on the road to sainthood proper.

This tiny, wizened figure captured the imagination of the world with her dedication to the poor, particularly in Calcutta where she established her first shelter to cope with the thousands of "pavement people".
No matter how destitute, diseased or repellent they might have been, the poor were welcomed. The dying were afforded a dignity in death.

    60. The Mother Teresa Connection - Dr. Kent M. Keith - Finding Personal Meaning In A
Kent M. Keith. Dr. Kent M Keith is the author of Anyway, The Paradoxical Commandments, 1968. Also known as Anyway, The Final Analysis,
    http://www.kentmkeith.com/mother_teresa.html
Dr. Keith is available for speaking engagements. He can be contacted at drkentkeith@hotmail.com
The Paradoxical Commandments were written by Kent M. Keith when he was 19, a sophomore at Harvard College. He wrote them as part of a book for student leaders entitled The Silent Revolution: Dynamic Leadership in the Student Council , published by Harvard Student Agencies in 1968. The Paradoxical Commandments subsequently spread all over the world, and have been used by millions of people.
Mother Teresa put the Paradoxical Commandments up on the wall of her children's home in Calcutta. The fact that the commandments were on her wall was reported in a book compiled by Lucinda Vardey, Mother Teresa: A Simple Path , which was published in 1995. As a result, some people have attributed the Paradoxical Commandments to Mother Teresa.
As Kent explains in his book, Do It Anyway: The Handbook for Finding Personal Meaning and Deep Happiness in a Crazy World
"I went up after the meeting and asked him where he got the poem. He said it was in a book about Mother Teresa, but he couldn't remember the title. So the next night I went to a bookstore and started looking through the shelf of books about the life and works of Mother Teresa. I found it, on the last page before the appendices in Mother Teresa: A Simple Path . The Paradoxical Commandments had been reformatted to look like a poem, and they had been retitled "Anyway." There was no author listed, but at the bottom of the page, it said: "From a sign on the wall of Shishu Bhavan, the children's home in Calcutta."
