He obtained his doctorate in chemistry from the University of California in 1940 and taught there and at Cornell University and the University of Chicago before joining the staff of Stanford University in 1961. His studies clarified the electron-transfer mechanisms involved in inorganic reactions, including those that help to provide energy in living organisms. Dopo aver studiato in Canada e alla Universit  della California a Berkeley, insegn² alla Cornell University di Ithaca (New York), all’Universit  di Chicago e, dal 1961, alla Stanford University (California). Alla fine degli anni Quaranta Taube intraprese una ricerca sperimentale volta allo studio del comportamento degli ioni di elementi metallici . Tale ricerca rese possibile l’interpretazione delle propriet  degli ioni metallici in base alla configurazione elettronica (la disposizione degli elettroni negli orbitali atomici e molecolari). Gli studi sui meccanismi di trasferimento degli elettroni nelle reazioni chimiche tra ioni metallici gli valsero il

Afficher cette section au format imprimable N©   Neudorf, en Saskatchewan (Canada), Henry Taube effectue ses premiers cycles universitaires en fili¨re scientifique dans sa province natale,   l’universit© du Saskatchewan. En 1937, il part aux ‰tats-Unis et s’inscrit   la prestigieuse universit© de Berkeley (Californie), o¹ il pr©pare un doctorat de chimie. Il soutient sa th¨se en 1940 et commence sa carri¨re universitaire   Berkeley en tant que moniteur. L’ann©e suivante, il obtient un poste de ma®tre de conf©rences   l’universit© Cornell   Ithaca (New York), qu’il quitte en 1946 pour l’universit© de Chicago. En 1962, il rejoint une autre prestigieuse universit© californienne, l’universit© Stanford   Palo Alto, o¹ il occupe la chaire de chimie inorganique jusqu’en 1986. C’est au sein de ces deux derniers ©tablissements qu’il r©alise l’essentiel de ses remarquables travaux de recherche.

Taube wurde am 30. November 1915 in Saskatoon in der kanadischen Provinz Saskatchewan geboren. Er studierte Chemie an der Universit¤t von Saskatchewan und promovierte 1940 an der University of California in Berkeley. 1941 ging Taube an die Cornell University (Ithaca) und nahm ein Jahr darauf die US-Staatsb¼rgerschaft an.
