General Information
European Biophysics Journal Editorial Board and Advisory Editorial Board Aims and Scope ... Links
General Information From the Managing Editor, Professor Anthony Watts The European Biophysics Journal now invites submission full research articles and Biophysics Letters . Full articles should describe original and previously unpublished research in area covered in the "Aims and Scope", although consideration will be given to other relevant areas of biophysics. Biophysics Letters should be shorter articles, which will be reviewed rapidly to ensure short publication times. The criteria for acceptance will be originality and scientific value. The text should include a short abstract, and the length should generally be no more than four Journal pages. Suggestions for short (less than 20pp) contemporary (covering relevant work from predominantly the last 5 years) reviews should be addressed to one of the Editors. Occasionally, Special Issues , covering specific topics either aaround a meeting or not, are published and can be edited by an invited guest editor(s). Suggestions for such Special Issues should be sent to one of the editors.

Molecular Biophysics
Welcome to the Molecular Biophysics (MB) group in the Kavli Institute of NanoScience of the Faculty of Applied Sciences at Delft University of Technology The research of the MB group focuses on single-molecule biophysics. The group employs magnetic and optical tweezers, AFM, single-molecule fluorescence, and nanofabricated structures to study biomolecular systems and foster new nanotechnology. Our current research falls in two main areas:
  • Local probe studies of single biomolecules
for example DNA repair proteins, topoisomerases, RNA-processing enzymes, and DNA condensation.

The Molecular Biophysics Unit (MBU) at the Indian Institute of Science was founded in 1971 by Prof. G. N. Ramachandran . T he Unit is currently engaged in frontline research in contemporary Molecular Biophysics and Structural Biology. The research activities in the Unit focus on the structure, conformation and interactions of biomolecules, with the main objective of explaining biological activity in molecular terms. The areas of research being pursued in the Unit are: protein folding and dynamics; lectins and lectin-carbohydrate interaction; peptide synthesis and design; X-ray crystallography of proteins and viruses; synthetic protein design and protein engineering; theoretical studies on the conformation of peptides and proteins; conformational analysis of nucleic acids; DNA-protein interactions; unusual DNA structures and control of transcription; genome organization; ionophores and drugs and their interaction with membranes; membrane channel forming peptides; ionic channels and electrophysiology; computer modelling and dynamics of biological molecules. The unit has grown over a quarter of century, during this period, more than 200 young scientists have obtained their Ph.D. degrees and the number of research publications exceeds 1000. Seven faculty members have received prestigious S. S. Bhatnagar prize; eight members are fellows of the Indian Academy of Sciences and seven members are fellows of the Indian National Science Academy
