Welcome to a rather complex web site that is largely devoted to evolutionary economics. The web site is maintained by Esben Sloth Andersen Department of Business Studies Aalborg University , and a subset of the pages reflects his projects on economic evolution, etc. But a major purpose of the web site is to provide more general access to contributors and contributions to evolutionary economics et al. By the way, " et alii " means evolutionary contributions to social sciences and biology that are somehow related to evolutionary economic analysis.

Evolution-based Morality and Ethics
The single greatest advantage that an evolutionary worldview has over traditional, flat-earth worldviews is that evolution provides a firmer foundation for godly ethics and morality, individually and collectively, than can ethical systems based on the Bible alone. Connie and I are in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area for a couple of weeks. Yesterday I was interviewed twice, first by the religion reporter for the Dallas Morning News, next by a staff writer for Pegasus News. read on 2 comments General

Edouard Bernstein:
Evolutionary Socialism
Edouard Bernstein (1850-1932) faced the problem - for Social Democrats - that things did not work out as badly as predicted in the Communist Manifesto. He was a colleague of Engels, and claimed Engel's support in dismissing with revolutionism, and calling for an evolutionary socialism, or as it is more commonly called "revisionism"..
PREFACE
It has been maintained in a certain quarter that the practical deductions from my treatises would be the abandonment of the conquest of political power by the proletariat organised politically and economically. That is quite an arbitrary deduction, the accuracy of which I altogether deny. I set myself against the notion that we have to expect shortly a collapse of the bourgeois economy, and that social democracy should be induced by the prospect of such an imminent, great, social catastrophe to adapt its tactics to that assumption. That I maintain most emphatically. The adherents of this theory of a catastrophe, base it especially on the conclusions of the

Aims
The E lectronic J ournal of E volutionary M odeling and E conomic D ynamics ( e-JEMED is a noncommercial scientific journal. The main objective of e-JEMED is to foster the communication of ideas in the very active area of evolutionary modeling. As such, it does not compete with paper-based journals but complements them:
  • The publication process of e-JEMED is much quicker . An article can be published as soon as it is accepted. Each submitted article will be evaluated in ten weeks Each publication in e-JEMED can/should include a detailed version of all the appendixes that naturally complement an article based on simulations (at least the code and, more preferably, a working version of the program on the web). The authors of the articles published in e-JEMED conserve their and can submit the article to a paper-based journal.
At the same time, e-JEMED is engaged to keep high the scientific level of published articles through a double-blind refereeing process : articles can only be submitted anonymously (see the instructions to authors ) and the connection between the anonymous copy and the effective authors is managed by a database. Each article is read by two anonymous referees.

MEGA 4: Molecular Evolutionary Genetics Analysis
MEGA is an integrated tool for conducting automatic and manual sequence alignment,
inferring phylogenetic trees, mining web-based databases, estimating rates
of molecular evolution, and testing evolutionary hypotheses.
Windows 95/98, NT, 2000, XP, and Vista.
New Features:
  • Real-Time Caption Expert Engine
A unique facility to generate detailed captions for different types of analyses and results. These captions are intended to provide detailed, natural language descriptions of the methods and models used in analysis. The facility aims to promote a better understanding of the underlying assumptions used in analysis, and also of the results generated. Maximum Composite Likelihood Method
A method for estimating evolutionary distances between all pair of sequences simultaneously, with and without incorporating rate variation among sites and substitution pattern heterogeneities among lineages. This method can also be used to estimate transition/transversion biases and nucleotide substitution patterns without requiring

William M. Newman and Walter Vincenti have published a very useful short essay in on how fields of engineering make progress by developing effective selection criteria for evaluating prototypes. The authors describe how human computer interface designers were able to learn from the history of aeronautical engineering in coming up with methodologies for devising useful selection criteria. Mission Statement
Unmarried Americans are the fastest-growing large demographic in the country and by 2008, a majority of Americans will live with an unmarried head of household. But despite their numbers, unmarried Americans are under-represented in national elections and their voices are not being heard in our democracy. Women's Voices. Women Vote was created to activate unmarried Americans in their government and in our democracy.

This is just a quick note to alert anyone interested in the subject that there is a really good discussion today at Bloggingheads.TV between Joshua Knobe, Philosopher from The UNC, Chapel Hill and Paul Bloom, Psychologist from Yale. The subject is basically, "morality and religion and whether or not they are innate or learned". This is particularly interesting to me because of the book I'm reading, " The Moral Animal " by Robert Wright (coincidentally the founder of Bloggingheads.TV).
I point this out because there is a lot of tasty food for thought in what they discuss for both theists and atheists. If you don't want to watch the entire discussion, I highly recommend the section entitled, "The big booming voice inside your head that says that god exists".
