Marcel Duchamp was an artist known for releasing art from its reliance on the visual or "retinal" and opening the territory for art practices based on concepts and the relationship of the work with the viewer. Duchamp saw the creative act belonging not to the artist but accuring in the mind of the spectator, through the spectators interpretation of the art work. Topic: The discipline of 'Complex Systems' studies how collective behavior emerges due to interaction of the parts of a system. You will learn the basic concepts and methods of complex system research. Both historical and present-day approaches will be mentioned. It will be emphasized that since many systems of very different fields, such as physics, chemistry, biology, economics, psychology and sociology etc. have similar architecture, very different phenomena of nature and society can be analyzed and understood by using a common approach called 'systems thinking'. Goal: The first goal is to teach WHY complex systems research is important in understanding the structure, function and dynamics of complex natural and social phenomena. The second goal is to give an introductory overview about HOW the fundamental methods of complex systems research works. The course is not highly technical mathematically, but teaches and uses the basic mathematical notions of dynamical system theory. Not only students of science majors, but social science students (with some mathematical interest and skill) are expected to take the class. Course Structure: Ten topics will be discussed. We shall spend one week on each topic.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Complex_system http://pespmc1.vub.ac.be/CYBSWHAT.html General Introduction The first corporation was the Golden Hind corporation created by Sir Francis Drake and Queen Elizabeth II of England. The structures of the corporations were carefully designed but did not follow any system of rules for corporate design. The way that many innovation based corporations form today is done by copying previous corporate structures. Because copying previously successful corporations creates an evolutionary dynamic, todays corporations are very similar in their corporate structure. The corporate structure seems to formulate almost automatically out of the collective ideas of the founders of the corporation based on their knowledge of good business practices. Because the corporate structure rapidly grows and becomes very complex, no one person can understand it in other than a block diagram form. Because of this the corporate structure can become needlessly complex and redundant. This is especially true in the areas of documentation, failure analysis and response.

This article describes complex system as a type of system. For other meanings, see complex systems
A complex system is a system composed of interconnected parts that as a whole exhibit one or more properties (behavior among the possible properties) not obvious from the properties of the individual parts. A system’s complexity may be of one of two forms: disorganized complexity and organized complexity In essence, disorganized complexity is a matter of a very large number of parts, and organized complexity is a matter of the subject system (quite possibly with only a limited number of parts) exhibiting emergent properties. Examples of complex systems include ant colonies ants themselves, human economies climate nervous systems ... cells and living things, including human beings, as well as modern energy or telecommunication infrastructures. Indeed, many systems of interest to humans are complex systems. Complex systems are studied by many areas of natural science mathematics , and social science . Fields that specialize in the interdisciplinary study of complex systems include systems theory complexity theory systems ecology , and cybernetics
