About the NASA Aeronautics Scholarship Program
ARMD is investing in long-term research in areas appropriate to NASA's unique capabilities, and meeting our charter of addressing national needs and benefiting the public good. We are advancing the science of aeronautics as a national resource, as well as advancing the concepts, applications and technologies that can be drawn upon by civilian and military communities, and our sister government agencies.
Fostering new generations of highly skilled scientists and engineers is critically important to the aeronautics community. ARMD, as part of its commitment to mastering the core competencies of aeronautics in all flight regimes, is restructuring its education program, including focusing investments in undergraduate and graduate education. ARMD is undertaking a new scholarship program focused on aeronautical research and related degree programs at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The program's purpose is to:

MIT Aero-Astro prepares engineers for success and leadership in the conception, design, implementation, and operation of aerospace and related engineering systems. We achieve this through our commitment to: educational excellence; creation, development, and application of technologies critical to aerospace vehicle and information engineering; and to the architecture and engineering of complex high-performance systems.
AERO-DINO Senior Technical Instructor Dick Perdichizzi tweaks a model of a prehistoric four-winged creature for testing in Aero-Astro's Wright Brothers Wind Tunnel. The project, to examine the aerodynamics of the ancient bird-like animal, was taped for a PBS Nova episode. - more PARTNER , the aviation noise and emissions research consortium based at MIT, is studying alternative fuels for aircraft. In addition to sustainablility, some of these fuels may offer cleaner, more efficient operation. - read story

This report can be found on the National Academies Press Web site An Independent Assessment of the Nation's Wake Turbulence Research and Development Program In response to the 2005 NASA Authorization Act (P.L. 109-155), NASA asked the ASEB to assemble a committee to conduct an independent analysis of what should be the appropriate elements of a national approach to overcoming wake turbulence challenges. The committee was charged with identifying and prioritizing the most important challenges in wake turbulence, and assessing current federal and nonfederal research. The committee identified nine technical and two organizational challenges to overcoming wake turbulence. The report includes metrics and milestones for each technical challenge, as well as a program plan that prioritizes different tasks during different time periods. The report can be found on the
