embers of the Biochemistry Department seek to understand the processes of life at the biochemical level. Research in the Department includes studies on the molecular mechanisms and regulation of RNA and DNA synthesis, recombination, oxygen sensing and signaling, mechanisms of nitric oxide action, mechanisms of chaperone-assisted protein folding, protein structure, stress signaling and response, mechanisms of G-protein function, HIV prophylaxis, neuron receptor localization and signaling mechanisms that determine the spatial directions of neuron motility. The Biochemistry Department enjoys a rich intellectual, and supportive physical environment, with ample opportunities for interaction with colleagues with a wide variety of scientific expertise. The New York University School of Medicine maintains a active graduate program through the Sackler Institute of Biomedical Sciences and the MD/PhD Physician/Scientist Training Program Department of Biochemistry

    Course Description
Though I've taught this course many times, the lab curriculum continues to evolve. By now I think I'm getting pretty close to a satisfactory set of exercises. I've separated my discussion into two groups: those exercises I like and will continue to use and those that I have tried but, for various reasons, have not kept. Below are my descriptions of each exercise with comments about their good and bad points. I would appreciate your comments and welcome your questions.
    Exercises I use more-or-less regularly:
Exercises I have used in the past:

Welcome to the Department of Biochemistry Home Page W elcome to the Department of Biochemistry in the College of Biological Sciences at The Ohio State University!  Our research-oriented faculty provide many opportunities for undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate study. Students at all levels can acquire thorough training and degrees in contemporary biochemistry through our diverse programs. T he Department’s research focus is primarily on macromolecular structure-function involving the major biopolymers: proteins, DNA, RNA, and oligosaccahrides. Structural biology is a strong component of our research activities. The faculty is in a GROWTH and BUILDING phase, with six new faculty members hired in the past six or so years.  Several additional hires are planned for the next several years to continue to build strength in both our research and academic programs.  In fact, a new search was initiated this past fall to fill a tenure-track faculty position.  O ur department offers many opportunities to the prospective student. In addition to our graduate programs, the Department is responsible for administering the
