  • Zhongli Pan Receives USDA Early Career Award
    The USDA Agricultural Research Service has awarded the Herbert L. Rothbart Outstanding Early Career Research Scientist Award to Zhongli Pan. Pan, an adjunct professor in the Department of Biological and Agricultural Engineering and a research engineer at the USDA ARS Western Regional Research Center, was honored for developing numerous energy efficient processing methods. These include new infrared heating technologies as alternatives to freeze-drying fruits and vegetables, as well as a nonchemical way to disinfect rice and pasteurize almonds. Lavernia Appointed Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor
    Enrique J. Lavernia, dean of the College of Engineering, has been appointed Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor at UC Davis for a three-year term beginning January 1, 2009. Consultation will begin immediately to appoint an interim dean during this time.
