Evolution is designed to serve as the primary text for undergraduate courses in evolution. It differs from currently available alternatives in containing more molecular biology than is traditionally the case. But this is not at the expense of traditional evolutionary theory. Indeed, a glance at the Table of Contents and the authors' interests reveals the range of material covered in this book. The authors are world-renowned in population genetics, bacterial genomics, paleontology, human genetics, and developmental biology. The integration of molecular biology and evolutionary biology reflects the current direction of much research among evolutionary scientists. Click here to read more.

Evolution Gets a Boost: No Cost for Complexity
By Brandon Keim Categories: Evolution Genetics
Even as creatures become complex, evolution doesn't get any harder. The findings, published yesterday in Nature , shed doubt on a creationist criticism of evolution: that adaptation must rapidly slow as creatures grow more complicated, making them less able to adapt to changing conditions.

The Magnificent, Ultraviolent, Far-Seeing Shrimp From Mars
By Brandon Keim Categories: Animals Evolution Perception
Four hundred million years after bushwhacking its own evolutionary path out of the Cambrian, the mantis shrimp is one of the world's freakiest animals. How freaky? Well, it sees something called circular polarized light a form of light that no other creature on Earth can perceive.

How Evolution Works by Marshall Brain
Inside This Article Introduction to How Evolution Works The Basic Process of Evolution How Life Works: DNA and Enzymes How Life Works: Asexual Reproduction The Simplest Example of Evolution ... articles The theory of evolution is one of the best-known scientific theories around. Try to make it through a day without using or hearing the word "evolution" and you'll see just how widespread this theory is. Evolution is fascinating because it attempts to answer one of the most basic human questions: Where did life, and human beings, come from? The theory of evolution proposes that life and humans arose through a natural process. A very large number of people do not believe this, which is something that keeps evolution in the news. In this article, we will explore the theory of evolution and how it works. We will also examine several important areas that show holes in the current theory places where scientific research will be working in the coming years in order to complete the theory. The holes are considered by many to be proof that the theory of evolution should be overthrown. As a result, quite a bit of controversy has surrounded evolution ever since it was first proposed.
