43. Fish
There are a wide variety of fish — from the goby which is less than one half an inch long, to the whale shark which can be over 60 feet long.

Fish
Almost three-forths of the world's surface is covered in water. This water is home to over 20,000 different species of fish. The earliest fossils of fish date back over 400 million years. Most fish breathe through gills. Gills perform the gas exchange between the water and the fish's blood. They allow the fish to breathe oxygen in the water. Fishes are vertebrates that have a skeleton made of either bone or cartilage. About 95% of fishes have skeletons made of bone. These bony fishes have a swim bladder, a gas-filled sac, that they can inflate or deflate allowing them to float in the water even when not swimming. Fishes with a cartilage skeleton tend to be heavier than water and sink. They must swim to keep afloat. Cartilaginous (cartilage) fish include the ray and the shark. Most fish swim using a tail fin. Muscles in the tail fin move it from side to side, forcing water backward, and propeling the fish forward. Other fins help the fish change direction and stop. Pectoral fins on their side help them swim up and down. Dorsal and anal fins on the top and bottom keep the fish upright. Pelvic fins on the underside help steer left and right. Many fish eat plants, while others such as the shark, eat other fish.

Organization of Fish Identification Section

For those unfamiliar with the parts of a fish,
... a diagram is included for reference. Description: the details most readily observed have been given top priority, since the angler has only moments to decide whether a fish is or is not a legal catch. Fin-ray counts are supplied when essential. Similar Fish: many fish have "look-alikes," other fish that resemble them closely. In such instances, the most readily seen differences are given. Where found: although the ocean has no fences, many fish are locked into particular habitats, information that often tells the angler where to drop the hook. Size: anglers usually judge the size of a fish by its weight, which simplifies record keeping. Scientists use length, since age/length relationships are more reliable than age/weight.
Note: The Florida records quoted are from the Department of Environmental Protection's printed publication, Fishing Lines and are not necessarily the most current ones. The records are provided as only as a benchmark.

Introduction
These games are closely related. The object is to collect books , which are sets of four cards of the same rank, by asking other players for cards you think they may have. Whoever collects most sets wins. The basic idea is very simple and they are often thought of as children's games.
Go Fish
This game is often just known as Fish , but the name "Fish" (or Canadian Fish or Russian Fish) is also sometimes used for the more complex partnership game Literature . Go Fish is best for 3-6 players, but it is possible for 2 to play. A standard 52 card deck is used. The dealer deals 5 cards to each player (7 each for 2 players). The remaining cards are placed face down to form a stock. The player to dealer's left starts. A turn consists of asking a specific player for a specific rank. For example, if it is my turn I might say: 'Mary, please give me your jacks'. The player who asks must already hold at least one card of the requested rank, so I must hold at least one jack to say this. If the player who was asked (Mary) has cards of the named rank (jacks in this case), she must give all her cards of this rank to the player who asked for them. That player then gets another turn and may again ask any player for any rank already held by the asker.

56. Fish
A brief outline of the essential features of fish biology.
http://www.mcwdn.org/Animals/Fish.html
The fish are the class of chordates that live completely in water. Their bodies have three main parts; the head, the trunk of the body and the tail. Their bodies are covered in scales and also a protective slime. They are important as a food source for animals. System Type Fish System Digestion A fish eats algae and plants and/or animals. Those that eat animals have teeth. Muscular/Skeletal A fish has an inner skeleton. It has two sets of fins, the pectoral fins that are near the head and the pelvic fins that are further down the body. Along the top of the trunk are the dorsal fins and fins towards the back or rear of the fish called anal fins. The dorsal and anal fins are for balance and the others for movement. Nervous A fish has a brain and a nervous system. Its eyes are positioned on either side of its body and are quite large, with no eyelid. Their retinas have both rods and cones. They have large pupils that let in a great deal of light. They have an inner ear but no outer ear opening. Since their bodies are the same consistency as water. Sound in water travels four times as fast as in the air. The fish also has a lateral line system just under the skin of its head and the top of its body that helps it detect motion and therefore prey. Fish have a nasal sac that helps them smell. Some fish produce a low voltage electrical current that keeps prey away.

Food Porn Daily: Baja-Ha fish taco Posted Apr 3rd 2008 2:01PM by Marisa McClellan
Filed under: Food Porn Daily Fish On the Blogs
My friend Cindy is one of those great cooks, who is able to eat something in a restaurant and then figure out how to recreate it at home in such a way that it is always better and more perfect than the restaurant could have imagined. A couple of years ago, she invited me over to dinner and made up a batch of fish tacos, inspired by ones she had eaten at El Vez, a local high-end Mexican restaurant. We sat in her overgrown backyard, assembling taco after delicious taco from the platters of fish, toppings and sauce that she had constructed. We ate far past the point of satiation, as it just tasted so good.
Well, that's what the image you see above makes me think of, that night, sitting in a backyard, enjoying some perfect food and a good friend. The dish and pic is by Average Betty and there's not only a blog post with recipe , there's also a video that goes along with it (have you watched Average Betty before? She's fun).

A Knock at the Door
setSize(curSize); Edward Budd was an enterprising eighteen-year-old. He was determined to make something of himself and escape the desperate poverty of his parents. On May 25, 1928, he put a classified ad in the Sunday edition of the New York World: "Young man, 18, wishes position in country. Edward Budd, 406 West 15th Street." He was a strapping young fellow who was eager to work and contribute to the well-being of his family. Trapped in the dirty, stinking, crowded city in a miserable tenement with his father, mother and four younger siblings, he longed to work in the country where the air was fresh and clean. On the following Monday, May 28, Edward's mother, Delia, a huge mountain of a woman, answered the door to an elderly man. He introduced himself as Frank Howard, a farmer from Farmingdale, Long Island, who wanted to interview Edward about a job.
