We have one of the most experienced programs of its type, caring for more than 6,000 children from communities throughout the New England area. Typically, children are referred from their pediatrician or primary care physician for treatment of common allergic problems. However, allergists throughout the world also refer to us their patients with complex, rare immunodeficiencies for evaluation and second opinions. Immunology Graduate Program
Molecular and Cellular Biology of the Immune System
The Interdisciplinary Graduate Program in Immunology at The University of Iowa was organized in 1993 as a group to bring together faculty from five departments that share a common interest in teaching students and performing research in Immunobiology. The Program offers classroom and research training leading to a Ph.D. degree which will prepare the student for a career in academic research, industry, or teaching. The learning experience is enhanced by an outstanding seminar series and journal clubs at which the most current immunology research is discussed. Approximately six students are admitted each year, with financial aid available to all those entering the Program. For additional information or to request an application, contact the Program administration. The program is funded by NIH "Predoctoral Training Program in Immunology" NIAID T32 AI007485. Science magazine names discovery by Reiner in Top Ten Breakthroughs of the Year Smithsonian magazine names Wherry as one of the Top Young Innovators Recognizing the need to create an environment where researchers could be adequately trained in the multifaceted aspects of immunobiology, Penn became the first medical school to establish a separate degree-granting Ph.D. program in Immunology. The faculty of the Immunology Graduate Group (IGG) are drawn from eight different units of the University of Pennsylvania, encompassing a broad spectrum of research interests: The College of Arts and Sciences The School of Medicine the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania Children's Hospital of Philadelphia ... the Wistar Institute ; and the Institute for Cancer Research. The IGG has also established a partnership with the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD. The partnership brings to the IGG the extraordinary resources and scientific expertise present at the NIH, one of the largest and most renowned biomedical research centers in the world. Students have the opportunity to interact with NIH faculty in a variety of ways, including conducting a lab rotation or thesis work at the NIH. This cross-departmental and institutional organization fosters a unique collaborative environment that allows students to develop research projects combining the expertise of multiple faculty members.

Trends in Immunology Editor: Zoltan Fehervari Volume 29, 12 issues ISSN: 1471-4906 Imprint: Cell Press Commenced publication 1980 Impact Factor: 10.2 See editorial board for all editors information Description Trends in Immunology plays an essential role in monitoring advances in the various fields of immunology, bringing together the results in a readable and lucid form. The backbone of each issue is a series of succinct reviews and hypothesis-driven viewpoints. Together with the other sections of the magazine (news, trends, letters, book reviews, centre page diagrams) they give the reader a complete picture of the diverse field of immunology. This broad perspective makes Trends in Immunology an invaluable information source for researchers, lecturers and students alike. Trends in Immunology helps to link developments in basic and clinical immunology, and is now established as the top-ranked monthly review journal in its field, according to ISI's Science Citation Index for immunology journals.
