Help Title: Gate structure and method of forming the gate dielectric with mini-spacer Document Type and Number: United States Patent 6867084 Link to this page: http://www.freepatentsonline.com/6867084.html Abstract: A field effect transistor gate structure and a method of fabricating the gate structure with a high-k gate dielectric material and high-k spacer are described. A gate pattern or trench is first etched in a dummy organic or inorganic film deposited over a silicon substrate with source/drain regions. A high-k dielectric material liner is then deposited on all exposed surfaces. Excess poly-silicon gate conductor film is then deposited within and over the trench to provide adequate overburden. Poly-silicon is then planarized with chemical mechanical polishing or etch-back methods such that the high-k material film on top of the dummy film surface is removed during this step. In the final step, the dummy film is disposed off, leaving the final transistor gate structure with high-k gate dielectric and high-k spacer surrounding the gate conductor poly-silicon, with the entire gate structure fabricated to form an FET device on a silicon substrate. Physics Help and Math Help - Physics Forums Engineering PDA View Full Version : MatE vs ChemE plutonium What is the difference between the two? Can a MatE work as a ChemE and vice versa?
I'm really interested in designing materials, but not machines that manufacture the materials. Will I be limiting my opportunities if I pursue a MatE degree? Astronuc Materials science has a lot to do with understanding the structure/morphology/composition of a material whereas chemical engineering is more about making a material and understanding the processes in the making of the material.

There is a Wikipedia article on Materials Science, but apparently there are problems with the quality. Nevertheless here it is - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Materials_science. plutonium So the two are actually quite distinct fields? Damn... my university doesn't offer materials engineering. It does offer a new program called nanotechnology engineering. (BTW, I'm going to the University of Waterloo in Canada)

Jump to: navigation '''Materials science ''' includes those parts of chemistry and physics that deal with the properties of materials. Materials science encompasses four classes of materials, the study of each of which may be considered a separate field: # metals # ceramics # polymers # composites Materials science is often referred to as materials science and engineering becuase it has many applications. Industrial applications of materials science include processing techniques ( casting rolling welding ion implantation ... glassblowing , etc.), analytical techniques (

Dr.-Ing. Kathy Sahner From “ Materials Science ” to “ Perovskites
Materials Science - a waste field, since, after all, every single object is made of something. To design and optimize materials for a specific purpose, you need to know a lot – about its chemistry and physical properties, how to process it, if it is compatible with the specifications. Most of the time, there’s a trade-off. Polymers may be extremely versatile, but they just disintegrate in the heat, the versatility of ceramics is overshadowed by their brittleness, and metals are excellent conductors, but they may corrode.
Due to this, highly specialized applications call for more than one material – you come across sophisticated systems, tailored and optimized. Composites. Doped materials. Nanostructured materials, since size DOES matter. Films and coatings, much thinner than a hair, but in conjunction with the substrate responsible for the functionality of the device. Or, as Prof. Herbert Kroemer put it in his Nobel Lecture in 2000, “ The interface is the device Ideally, you should also know exactly why a material behaves the way it does, and how it reacts to any kind of external stimulus that might occur.
