71. Industrial Robots And Factory Automation Equipment - EPSON Robotics
Industrial robots and factory automation equipment including the cartesian robot, scara robot, pc based control system and robot machine vision systems
http://www.robots.epson.com/
Industrial Robots and Factory Automation Equipment
EPSON Robotics is the leading manufacturer of precision based industrial robots (over 17,000 sold), PC based controls, machine vision systems and other Factory Automation products. Our mission at Epson Robotics is to make industrial robots and factory automation products that are powerful, flexible and easy to use.
Benefits of EPSON Robotics Industrial Robots
Industrial robots from EPSON Robotics offer unparalleled benefits. Our industrial robots and factory automation equipment set the standard in the industry by offering improved productivity, reduced cost and a better manufacturing quality. EPSON Robotics specializes in both Cartesian robots and SCARA robots
Epson Robotics Cartesian Robots
Cartesian robots, due to the linear nature of their movements, are naturally more precise than rotary motion style robots (SCARA robots) . However, typical Cartesian robots have the trade-off of a lower speed for this greater repeatability. Additionally, in the past, Cartesian robots have tended to be bulky units which require larger workcells that consume more factory floor space. Not any more! Epson Robotics XM3000 Series is EPSON's third generation of Cartesian robots derived from EPSON's keen commitment to listing to customer needs and feedback. EPSON Robotics XM3064 has a 600 x 400 mm XY work envelope while the XM3106 has a 1000mm x 600mm envelope. Both Cartesian robot units come standard with the same style 150mm Z axis and +/- 360 degree tool rotation axis as the E-Series SCARA robots. And, as with the E-Series SCARA Robots, an optional 300mm Z-Axis is also available. EPSON Robotics XM3000 is also available in a variety of other sizes and configurations such as 2 and 3 axis models.

Topics Definition of a 'robot' First use of the word 'robot' First use of the word 'robotics' Three Laws of Robotics ... Interresting Articles Definition of a 'Robot' According to the Robot Institute of America (1979) a robot is:
"A reprogrammable, multifunctional manipulator designed to move material, parts, tools, or specialized devices through various programmed motions for the performance of a variety of tasks".
A more inspiring definition can be found in Webster. According to Webster a robot is:
"An automatic device that performs functions normally ascribed to humans or a machine in the form of a human." First use of the word 'robot' The acclaimed Czech playwright Karel Capek (1890-1938) made the first use of the word ‘robot’, from the Czech word for forced labor or serf. Capek was reportedly several times a candidate for the Nobel prize for his works and very influential and prolific as a writer and playwright.
The use of the word Robot was introduced into his play R.U.R. (Rossum's Universal Robots)

78. Pyro, Python Robotics: Pyro
A library, environment, graphical user interface, and lowlevel drivers to explore AI and robotics using the Python language. Pyro is Free Software licensed

Welcome to Pyro!
Pyro stands for Py thon Ro botics. The goal of the project is to provide a programming environment for easily exploring advanced topics in artificial intelligence and robotics without having to worry about the low-level details of the underlying hardware. That is not to say that Pyro is just a toy. In fact, Pyro is used for real robotics research as well as courseware. Pyro is written in Python. Python is an interpreted language, which means that you can experiment interactively with your robot programs. In addition to being an environment, Pyro is also a collection of object classes in Python. Because Pyro abstracts all of the underlying hardware details, it can be used for experimenting with several different types of mobile robots and robot simulators. Until now, it has been necessary to learn very different and specific control languages for different mobile robots, particularly those manufactured by different companies. Now, a single language can be used to program many different robots, allowing code to be shared across platforms as well as allowing students to experiment with different robots while learning a single language and environment. Robots: Currently, the robots supported include the Pioneer family (Pioneer, Pioneer2, People

Welcome to the Stanford AI Laboratory
Welcome to the Stanford AI Lab!
The Stanford AI Lab (SAIL) is the intellectual home for researchers in the Stanford Computer Science Department whose primary research focus is Artificial Intelligence. The lab is located in the Gates Computer Science Building and the new Clark Center, where 100+ people share the space with 30+ robots. Our mission is to change the way we understand the world. In the past decade, an abundance of data has become available, such as online data on the Web, scientific data such as the transcript of the human genome, sensor data acquired by robots or by the buildings we inhabit. The list is endless. Turning data into information pertaining to problems that people care about, is the central mission of our research. In short, we seek to develop the next generations of theory, algorithms, and systems, that help us attach meaning to bits and bytes. Members of the Stanford AI Lab have contributed to fields as diverse as bio-informatics, cognition, computational geometry, computer vision, decision theory, distributed systems, game theory, image processing, information retrieval, knowledge systems, logic, machine learning, multi-agent systems, natural language, neural networks, planning, probabilistic inference, sensor networks, and robotics. We invite you to browse our Web site to find out more about our research. Share our excitement about AI, and the many ways in which computers are changing almost every aspect of our lives.
