Frequently Asked Questions Waters Open to Year-Round Hook and Line Angling During the 2008-2009 season, hook and line fishing is open all year in these waters for all fish species except muskellunge, lake sturgeon, trout, paddlefish and threatened or endangered fish, and as otherwise noted in the Special County Regulations for the waterbody where you plan to fish. Experimental waters of the Northern Highland Fisheries Research Area are open all but 5 days of the year.
