The rules of blind cricket are based on the standard Laws of cricket with some essential modifications. In terms of playing equipment, the major adaptation is the ball, which is significantly larger than a standard cricket ball and filled with ball bearings. The size allows partially sighted players to see the ball and the contents allow blind players to hear it. The wicket (stumps) is also larger, to allow partially sighted players to see and blind players to touch it in order to correctly orient themselves when batting or bowling. Various other modifications to the rules apply. Verbal signals are widely used both by umpires and players: in particular, the bowler must shout 'Play!' as he releases the ball. Who can play Blind Cricket?
People who are totally blind or partially sighted (legally blind) can play the game.
How many players in a team?
For domestic competition this can vary from state to state. However, for national and international games, the team usually comprises eleven players which break down to four totally blind players and seven partially sighted players.
What equipment is used?
We use conventional cricket bat. The wickets are of conventional dimensions but are made of aluminium or otherwise metal materials. The pitch we play on is concrete and 22 yards in length. The boundaries are 30 to 40 yards. Our blind cricket ball is made of nylon tubing woven around a wire mould and contains lead pieces to give it weight and bottle tops for sound. It is slightly larger than the ball used in the sighted version of the game. Accessories such as cricket pads and gloves are optional and the same as those used by our sighted counterparts. How long does a Blind cricket game usually last?

Official Pakistani Cricket Forums Planet Cricket - PakCricket.org PDA View Full Version : Pakistani Blind Cricket Team Created 5 World Records DaPakiGuy 12-09-2006, 01:23 PM Defending champions Pakistan gave their best-ever performance in a blind cricket match setting five world records during their 10-wicket victory over New Zealand in their second match of the Cricket World Cup for the Blind here at the F-9 Park on Friday.
Pakistani bowlers didn’t allow New Zealand batsmen to settle at any stage of their innings and the Kiwis could just manage 21 runs which was a world record for the lowest team total in blind cricket matches.
The hosts didn’t have any problem in reaching the target and they did so in just seven deliveries. The team duration of this match was the shortest ever in blind cricketing history - another world record.
Aamir Ashfaq captured five wickets giving away just four runs - another new record for best bowling. Six Kiwi batsmen were dismissed through catches which surpassed the previous record thus creating another new record.
Pakistani fielder Tariq Samuel held three catches during the match to set a new world record. Aamir Ashfaq, for his brilliant bowling performance, won the man-of-the-match award.
