Feeding Out Crickets To Your Herps
Introduction
The house cricket ( Achetus domesticus ) is a staple and nutritious food for many herp species. Obtaining a reliable supply of these insects can be a bother, especially if one requires a constant supply of newly hatched 'pinhead' crickets, to say nothing of the costs of feeding a large collection with pet-shop-bought crickets. The following article outlines a method for cricket raising which has been developed over the past two years in order to provide a collection of frogs (Mantellas, Discophus, and Dendrobates) with a constant supply of small and large crickets. There are several things to consider before you decide to raise crickets:
  • The crickets will make a lot of noise. You must have an area to keep them where this is not a problem.
  • Escapes will be inevitable! Eventually you might find yourself falling asleep (or not falling asleep) to the trill of a cricket courting in the warmth beneath an appliance in your room. If you live in an apartment your neighbors may find new, unwanted, tenants in the hallways. Commercial insecticide pellets such as those used to kill earwigs can be placed in the room with your cricket colony to prevent escapees from taking over the house.

Cricket’s Hideaway From The World
A Bit Preoccupied Right Now
March 23rd, 2008
Well, we were gonna see some great shots of Haley sweet talking the new spring calves, but she appears to be a bit preoccupied right now.
Are they lost? Or, do they instinctively prefer life in the South too?
Yup, Haley is still preoccupied but we get this great shot of her knee in her favorite old jeans. Can anyone tell me why we pay so much for jeans that the kids are just gonna rip up?
We had to make a quick stop to visit the horses Haley met last week because she PROMISED she would be back to visit. As soon as we pulled up they came running in from the field as if the recognized her. She had to take time to sweet talk each and every one of them before she was ready to move on. So, how did they manage to capture her undivided attention?
Okay kid! Close the dang phone, put it down, and let me see you smile. This will only take 5 seconds. I promise! All that text messaging on a warm Spring day leads to a quick change in hairstyles. How can such a messy ponytail look so dang cute? Does she still seem preoccupied?

There were no positive dope tests at the recent World Cup in the West Indies, the International Cricket Council (ICC) said on Thursday.
A total of 68 players were tested during the 47-day event which ended on April 28 with Australia clinching an unprecedented third successive titles.
Two players from each team were chosen randomly in 15 of the 51 Cup games and from two warm-up matches.
"The fact that all drug tests at the ICC Cricket World Cup proved negative is a great result for the game," chief executive Malcolm Speed said in a statement.
"It sends out a very positive message, something everyone connected with the game can be very proud of."

Don't blame me for Chanderpaul fiasco
Thu, Apr 3, '08 by CARL MOORE (Manager of Guyana Carib Beer Cup team)
It is with great consternation that I read statements allegedly made by the president of the Guyana Cricket Board, Mr. Chetram Singh in connection with the "Chanderpaul fiasco."
I think it necessary under the circumstances in my defence as Manager of the Guyana cricket team to set matters straight.

I'm an oxymoron: a libidinous, infertile mom

Adult Child of a Narcissist
During my appointment yesterday, she finally gave my mother a name: Narcissist. I knew the world revolved around her, but I never gave it an overall classification. It's kind of funny, considering that I had diagnosed P's mother with Narcissistic Personality Disorder several years ago. However, I neglected my own, but that's probably part of the pattern she trained me to follow.
With my mother, I knew everything sprang from her poor self-esteem due to her father. I guess I gave her a bye, because I knew the source. Then gave her another bye and another. I never lumped together the various behaviors, just considered them as a result of their basis in her family, something she couldn't change or escape. I know she is always seeking to fill a void left by her upbringing. (Here are some pertinent books I hope to check out.)
Since I researched this a bit last night in my quest to learn more, I have smiled. I am released. She will never change. She will never think she's wrong. She will always think everyone else is wrong and only there to service her. There is genuine reason to give up hope. It's okay. People don't become unnarcissistic. And they just get worse with age. Meanwhile, I can give up on the hypervigilant way I became to protect myself against her attacks. I don't have to be on pins and needles.
Of course, logical Norma, during our walk last night, asked, "And how long have you been seeing your therapist?" I could only nod. In July, it will be ten years, a very long time. Considering it took her over eight years to realize that I have some version of ADHD, I guess it isn't surprising that she's finally seized upon this with my mother. Strange, though, because she was certainly in on the talks about P's mother and I have never held back on discussing my own. Norma figures she just read some professional continuing education on the subject and it clicked.

Description
Cricket Moods is a flexible "mood tag" WordPress plugin. It allows an author to add one or more "moods" to every post. Each mood can be associated with an image file. The result would be that the author could have an animated happy smiley face next to the words I'm Happy for every post she wishes. Cricket Moods presents you with a list of available moods when you go to create or edit a post. There is no need for you to remember your list of moods. Using an option panel in WordPress ' administrative menus, you can rename your moods or even change a mood's graphic without modifying every post that uses that mood. Despite this plugin's name and my continual reference to "moods", this plugin can be used for more than just moods. For example, instead of displaying your current mood, you could give your readers the current weather where you are. You could rename the mood tags to things like "Sunny", "Overcast", and "Raining Cats and Dogs." You could then upload little cloud and sun images and use those with the tags instead of the pre-defined mood smilies. You could even leave the tag text or the tag images blank to have either just text or just images. I'd love to hear about creative uses of this plugin! New in Cricket Moods 3.0 is the ability for every user (contributor and higher) to keep their own personal list of moods.
