MEETING EVERY Monday, Wednesday and Friday at NOON at the Co-Rec , lower courts. Pre-arranged games not necessary; show up and make your presence known and you'll be included in singles, cut-throat or doubles, depending on who is present. Sixteen regulation courts are available, including one with a glass back and viewing area. At noon, reservations are almost never needed. There are also 5 older, smaller courts, left from a time when singles courts were smaller than regulation doubles (according to my information), that are seldom used for handball anymore. Entry to the Co-Rec is restricted ( see regulations ). Alumni bring evidence of Purdue graduation. Other visitors must be sponsored: Call one of the active participants or show up by 11:30 at front entrance and make presence known; handballers will be coming in (some come in the back, though) and will sponsor you. Identification by both hand gloves on bag is obvious, but some have all their things in the gym. Alternatively, attempt to have one of the regulars paged; they'll be present by 12:05. The

There are many ways to contribute, including membership, coaching and mentoring young handball players, supporting the Handball Hall of Fame, joining the NCHA Board, contributing your time, talents, and money, or playing in our Regional Tournament. History Handball has a long and glorious history in Northern California, dating from the Great California Gold Rush. Among the many who came to Northern California in search of gold were the Irish, who brought the " Perfect Game " with them. By 1851 an Irish saloon was operating in San Francisco and listed in the 1851 S.F. City Directory under the heading: "Ball Courts and Alleys". These classifications were commonly used to describe handball courts in Ireland and England. Handball courts, more commonly known as handball 'alleys' in Ireland, were often built adjacent to the pub and would utilize one of the pub walls as the front wall of the court.The 1851 San Francisco City Directory lists THOMAS CULLEN'S SALOON AND SHAMROCK BALL AND RACKET COURT located at 543 Market Street. This may well be the oldest listed handball court in the United States, pre-dating Phil Casey's court on DeGraw Street in Brooklyn, New York by some 37 years.The Shamrock court is certainly the oldest known handball court in California, built at least 150 years ago.

Perhaps it has got something to do with the downslide in the standards of the national team itself, which does not give rise to much enthusiasm with even the most dedicated fans. There really is not much worth writing about! However, I will not let this patient die totally, but rather let it remain in some sort of coma, with occational moments of awakening. The Danish team meets China in two training matches in May. It should be seen as part of the preparations to the EC qualification matches against Turkia in May/June.

Materials: Gymnasium, 2 goal nets, 8 inch ball PGB Warm Ups: Introduction:Team Handball is an Olympic Sport. The game is played on a court with goal nets at each end. The court has a center line, two penalty lines, a goal area that only the goalie is allowed into and the walls of the gym are in play. The Rules Activity: I begin by dividing the class into two teams. Each team is then divided again. I let each team play for about 3 minutes and then switch.
