Welcome to RPI's Racquetball website. Anyone who is a student at RPI can play; it doesn't matter if you are a grad or undergrad student. It is okay if you have never played racquetball before. We have a great coach, Jeff Schreiber, who loves teaching us. We are part of the ECRC (Eastern Collegiate Racquetball Conference), which is headed by Shane Wood. Shane, who attended Nichols College, was an Intercollegiate National Champion. The ECRC hosts tournaments throughout the Fall and Spring semesters, as far away as Maryland. There are currently eighteen colleges in the ECRC, including Penn State, Clarkson, The University of Maryland, Providence College, Nichols College, and Bryant College. The ECRC also is affiliated with the USAR (USA Racquetball,) who hosts the Intercollegiate Nationals each year. The location of these tournaments changes from year to year, and in the past we have had the privilege to travel to California, Nevada, Arizona, and Texas. There are two racquetball courts in the '87 gym, but seeing as they are a lot smaller than the standard racquetball courts, we hold our practices at the Colonie Court Club located off of Wolf Road, behind The Colonie Center Mall. We are having practice this season every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, 7:45-10. We'll meet at the Union at 7:15, leave by 7:30, and be at the Court Club by 7:45. Jeff will be there half an hour early Tuesday's and Thursday's if anyone is interesting in doing some Cardiovascular activity, such as running on the treadmill. | |
