At least that was one biblical message I was reminded of by the Justice Sunday III, the pro-Alito rally held last night at the Greater Exodus Baptist Church in North Philadelphia.
What religious conservatives gave through their grass-roots muscle over decades was political power to like-thinking politicians like President Bush, power to make nominations to the federal judiciary, especially the Supreme Court.

By John Matras FAMOUS FOR CARS sliding broadside through woodland corners, throwing up grand showers of mud and gravel from narrow, knobby tires, performance rallying is, like soccer, perhaps the most popular form of automotive competition that most Americans have never heard of.
The excitement is undeniable, as anyone who has caught, say, the Swedish rally on cable TV will tell you. Small, high-performance cars snarl down a snow-covered road, often as not sideways or even airborne, all in search of the fastest time of the day.

By Asami Novak Categories: Digital Rights Games Social Networking Web/Tech Many Facebook users are devastated by the news that their favorite application, Scrabulous In response to the threat, Scrabulous fans are creating Save Scrabulous Facebook groups and encouraging users to take action. Under the discussion topic “ Fellow Scrabolutti, we’re in trouble ”, some have posted Hasbro and Mattel’s contact info, in hopes that users will complain/plead with the companies. One user writes: “i think this is a huge mistake by the companies. sure, technically its illegal. we get it, but I have personally introduced 2 people to the game of scrabble. “this is a huge! market for them. who plays board games anymore unless the power goes out? especially in the facebook generation. im sure the numbers are dwindling, thats why they are forced to constantly come out with electronic talking versions and other half baked twists on board games. however, if they shut down scrabulous and replace it with their own version, then i'd say its a good move.”

    • E-mail Share When Kate Oliver went to her state senator to speak about same-sex marriage, she told him about growing up with a gay father and about the discrimination that he and his partner of 27 years face.
"He worked really hard to make sure I was safe. I will never forget that, and I will always work to make sure he has the same protections as my husband and I," said Oliver, a social worker and mother of two.
Oliver plans to return to Annapolis tomorrow for a rally in support of the Religious Freedom and Civil Marriage Protection Act, which would legalize same-sex marriages in Maryland. She has made the trip from her home in Columbia to the State House 10 times in the past three years to lobby for same-sex marriage, but this year, she said, the tenor is different.
People on both sides of this issue say the legislative debate has taken on added importance in the wake of the Maryland Court of Appeals' decision last September to uphold the state's ban on same-sex marriage.

    Some choir! Only?!
As far as subjective impressions allow and in the admitted absence of rigorous data, I am persuaded that the religiosity of America is greatly exaggerated. Our choir is a lot larger than many people realise. Religious people still outnumber atheists, but not by the margin they hoped and we feared. I base this not only on conversations during my book tour and the book tours of my colleagues Daniel Dennett, Sam Harris and Christopher Hitchens, but on widespread informal surveys of the World Wide Web. Not our own site, whose contributors are obviously biased, but, for example, Amazon, and YouTube whose denizens are reassuringly young. Moreover, even if the religious have the numbers, we have the arguments, we have history on our side, and we are walking with a new spring in our step – you can hear the gentle patter of our feet on every side.
Our choir is large, but much of it remains in the closet. Our repertoire may include the best tunes, but too many of us are mouthing the words
