Seriously though, after being subjected to an hour of Wimbledon I was about ready to tear my Sauce out.
Nothing happens.
All it is is one ball going back and forth, back and forth, and occasionally not going back at all.
That's it.
In Football, you get stuff like free kicks, throw ins, penalties. Golf has putting, bunker shots. Rugby has scrums and conversion kicks.
But no. Tennis is the exact same game every single time. The only variation is when the ball doesn't go back.
It is just as bad as cricket, and can go on for the same amount of time.
And then you go and take away all the good shows to fill 12 hours of the day with it on BBC?
What the hell is wrong with you people!?
*gasp. Rant over* The Great Skenardo 07-07-2007, 08:26 AM Nonetheless, Tennis is hard; it takes a great deal of skill and fitness on the part of the athletes. If you're watching for how the various serves and strikes go, it can be quite exciting at times. I recall one instance where someone served so hard that the ball ended up embedded in the clay of the court, in its own little crater.

Real tennis

Real tennis is the original racket sport from which the modern game of lawn tennis, or tennis , is descended. Real tennis is still played at a small number of active courts in the United Kingdom Australia , the United States , and France It is also known as jeu de paume in France court tennis " in some parts of America , and formerly called " royal tennis " in Australia . The term real tennis is often thought to be a corruption of this last name and related to the game's connection with royalty during its heyday in England and France in the and 17th centuries . In fact "real" was first used at the end of the century as a retronym to distinguish it from the then recently invented game of lawn tennis. Real tennis players often just call it "tennis", describing the modern game as "lawn tennis".
History
The term "tennis" derives from the French word tenez, which means "take it" — a warning from the server to the receiver. Court tennis has evolved over centuries from an earlier ball game played around the 12th century in France. This had some similarities to

But why do you supposed badminton is not as popular in the US as in other countries?
Could it be because of...
-International Relations?
-Rules, Gameplay, unexciting to watch?
-Advertisement? (The game does not reach to people in many areas)
-Lack of organized professional play such as leagues?
-The abundance of other different sports? (baseball, football, etc.
I encourage everyone to answer, feel free to add and support multiple reasons jwcdis 06-08-2006, 09:38 PM i wish i knew how to make this into a poll instead taneepak 06-08-2006, 10:16 PM i wish i knew how to make this into a poll instead
A poll will just reflect the participants' opinions, but will it come up with any meaningful conclusions?
Maybe we can have a look at soccer, which has become more popular since they signed the legendary Pele to play in the US many moons ago. But what is the real reason for its increased popularity in the US? I, for one, certainly think it has something to do with the increasing population of soccer-crazy hispanic people in the US.
