Rules of the game Method Pubs Information ... Home Description Also known as bar skittles and pub skittles, the game of table skittles is known across all of Britain. This game is gaining popularity all over the world now. Nine small skittles are positioned in a square on a raised base, nine inches square. Dimensions of the table are about two feet by two feet six inches. The height of the side walls should be about three inches high. In the middle of the left hand side of the base (as the player looks at it) stands a pole about three feet high connected to which is a swivelled chain with a a wooden ball at the other end suspended at same height as the skittles. The pins and ball would normally be made of boxwood or other English hardwood. The ball is swung clockwise around behind the pole, the objective being to knock over the skittles as it returns to the player. So in order to knock over all nine skittles, a player must hit the skittle furthest away first. A scoreboard is sometimes integrated into the front of the board and can appear in several styles. Quite often, a cribbage board is used. How to play Since the game is a miniaturised version of Skittles, the game is played in the same way. A coin should be tossed to see who takes the first turn.

You may have heard about the New Haven, CT eighth grade honors student who got into trouble for buying a bag of skittles in the hallway of his school. Seems the school has a strict policy about the selling and buying of candy. The student was not only suspended from school for three days, he was also barred from the school honors dinner and lost his title as school VP! Now it looks like some of those punishments might be taken away . After meeting with his parents, school officials have decided to forget the suspension and will also allow the student to continue as VP. He did, however, miss that dinner. School officials say that this has been an ongoing problem with students. It seems to me that one of the reasons they changed their mind is because the story got so much attention from national media, including TV networks. Officials are reviewing their policy. "In looking back over this incident, I warned the students repeatedly, but I should have reinforced it in writing to parents, that the district does not allow buying and selling candy at school," Turner said in a statement released by the district. "My intention throughout was and still is to maintain a safe and orderly building. I am sorry that this has happened. My hope is that we can get back to the normal school routine, especially since we are in the middle of taking the Connecticut Mastery Test."
