A team has to win five games to win a title. But for two WPIAL teams, the roads to their PIAA first-round games were downright harrowing. Greensburg Central Catholic girls' coach Rich Rosensteel and Ambridge boys' coach Bill Minear weren't exactly enthralled about having to travel through a snowstorm to play Friday. The teams had to endure treacherous, lengthy bus rides because the PIAA informed them they would forfeit if they didn't show up. It took Greensburg Central Catholic seven hours to get to Clarion University for its game against Karns City. The game was supposed to start at 6 p.m. but instead started around 9:30. Usually, the trip would take two hours. Greensburg Central Catholic defeated Karns City, 62-54.
