College videos of campus tours plus other helpful college planning and admissions information.
http://www.collegiatechoice.com/
COLLEGIATE CHOICE WALKING TOURS VIDEOS
A most unique DVD video series of college campuses
Our videos are simple, non-promotional recordings of the student guided campus tour at over 350 colleges and universities across the United States, Canada and Europe. They are not professionally produced. Guidance counselors, not commercial film makers, are doing the recordings. That means you get no background music, no mood shots, and assuredly no great camera work. Even after recording over 1,000 tours, we are still amateurs. All we promise is an average one hour per college of reality footage. That's not a bad time frame, when you consider most families only spend from 2 to 4 hours on a campus visit. Then again, we don't want to be too hard on ourselves either. Click on our Reviews by Others to read what the nation's journalists have thought about our efforts. They've seen the value of what we provide. So who are we? We are independent college advisors who work with families in Bergen County, New Jersey. As we have no connection to the colleges themselves, both the narration and the visuals are completely candid. You will find our student tour guides significantly more knowledgeable than the average undergraduate, and perhaps a bit more forthright than some admissions or marketing departments. While we may not be expert photographers, we are good at asking questions to make sure our guides touch on all the areas we think of interest. And if an important site is omitted from the tour because of distance, we will record it at the end.

Walking the Berkshires
"Sharp, quirky, and occasionally nettlesome", Walking the Berkshires is my personal blog, an eclectic weaving of human narrative, natural history, and conservation science with the Berkshire and Litchfield Hills as both its backdrop and point of departure. I am interested in how land and people, past and present manifest in the broader landscape and social fabric of our communities. The opinions I express here are mine alone.

Happy Birthday RT
The man called the 19th greatest guitarist of all time is 59. During the 1980s his album " Shoot Out The Lights " with wife Linda Thompson was called one of the top ten of the decade by Rolling Stone. Richard Thompson is hands down my favorite musician: period, full stop. No other singer/composer comes close for sheer virtuosity and word craft. The workouts he can give a guitar can reach delirious, epic proportions. His patter between songs during solo shows is hysterically funny, though while there is a strong streak of oddball sensibility in his lyrics he can do a mournful ballad as well or better than anyone else in the business. Have a listen. I'm greatly looking forward to his upcoming show at the Mahaiwe in Great Barrington just up the road on April 19th.

    http://www.walkingstick.org/
Walking Stick Foundation is a non-profit, tax-exempt educational organization dedicated to the restoration and preservation of aboriginal Jewish spirituality, occasionally sharing events with teachers indigenous to Native American and other earth-honoring traditions.
In Memoriam: Robert A. Levin, Founding Chairman of Walking Stick Foundation What is Walking Stick?
We offer programs where the aboriginal wisdom of Judaism, Native America, and other non-proselytizing earth-honoring traditions are shared with participants by teachers indigenous to those paths. The teachings are combined with wilderness experience, ceremonies, chants, storytelling, and meditations , and are directed at helping individuals to enrich their lives with the wisdom of the ancients and the inspiration of the land. Our retreats, seminars, workshops, and ceremonies are conducted at the Walking Stick Retreat Center in rural New Mexico as well as at other locations across the United States and abroad by the invitation and co-sponsorship of communities and organizations. The intented gift of these programs is to help participants to realize the magic of the ordinary, the gift of knowing that everything they strain so hard to discover so distant from where they are already standing, is actually right under their noses. This sort of learning encourages people to recognize their own preciousness, their own power and wisdom, and their own uniqueness. There is an ancient Jewish teaching that goes like this: "Every person needs to declare, 'Because of me alone would the entire universe have been worth creating.'"

    What's with all those bikers?
How many times did I see this scene repeated today? I didn't stop to count the ways. However, anybody who was out and about around noon probably saw the many clumps of bikers headed through town on their way to ? I even saw a clutch of them parked briefly on Coronado just across from Lincoln School.
I thought perhaps they were headed up to Mormon Lake for the un-Sturgis event there. However, a quick consult with The Google dismissed that idea; Too Broke for Sturgis takes place in late July. Last year, over 1200 cyclers made the scene in the high country (above). Further research uncovered the facts that 1) this is Arizona Bike Week and 2) today there was a 260-mile Riding for Kids Charity Run. Figures; the bikers we saw today were coming up Iron Springs Road, the wuss-route, instead of taking the curves of the White Spar through the mountains.
