Sunday was the last and final day of competition in which we where presented with perfect blue skies and 15-22 knots winds.
Race committee went for 3 races back to back, so most sailors choose 10-11 meters sails not to get overpowered if the wind picked up to much.
On the first race, most sailors went for a starboard pin end star. I started close to Galvan and Paulao, who started just behind me and manage to cover me from the top and with that I risked taking to the other side. Paulao kept covering me and he rounded the top mark in first, I came in second followed by Galvan Mathias and Sergio Mehl.
Paulao kept the lead until the end; I came in second and Sergio Mehl close in third.
Second Race winds picked up and 10.7 was starting to get a bit big. Paulao and I had a battle at the start and he managed to tack ahead and cover me to the upwind mark. Sergio was in third with mathias, galvan and Raul Saubidet all close together.

A technology that uses a magnetic balloon to sail ionized particles shed by the Sun could speed humans to the Jovian moons in less than two years and push a probe past Voyager 1 to become the first spacecraft beyond our Solar System. [inset] The low-cost Mini-Magnetosphere Plasma Propulsion, or M2P2, propels spacecraft at speeds far greater than today's chemical and even ion propulsion systems, and its magnetic-field sail would even protect travelers from deadly solar and Jovian radiation. Images
The Earth has a magnetosphere, produced by the terrestrial magnetic field and plasma from the ionization of the upper layers of the atmosphere. The M2P2 will parallel these naturally occurring systems by creating an electromagnetic bubble or mini-magnetosphere around the spacecraft. Credit: Robert Winglee. Click to enlarge.
Artist's impression of a mini-magnetosphere deployed around a spacecraft. Plasma or ionized gas is trapped on the magnetic field lines generated onboard, and this plasma inflates the magnetic field much like hot air in a balloon. The mini-magnetosphere is then blown by the solar wind. Click to enlarge.
Tests of the prototype being developed at the Univ. of Washington were recently performed at a large vacuum chamber at Test Area 300 at the NASA Marshall Space Flight Center. These tests allowed for expansion over some 16 feet, or nearly 50 times the magnet radius, to be studied. Credit: Robert Winglee. Click to enlarge.

72. Windsurfing In Belize - Travelbelize.org - Official Site Of The Belize Tourism B
windsurfing is just one of the many watersports available in Belize.
http://www.travelbelize.org/windsurfing.html
With 174 miles of protected coastline, Belize is the perfect place to enjoy the cutting-edge water sports of windsurfing, parasailing, kiteboarding, jet skiing, and aqua biking. Belize is at the forefront of the latest trends as new action sports appear on the scene.
For water enthusiasts, the Cayes have it all. Flat water created by the reef and the constant onshore/side-shore winds that provide an ideal location for the beginner to try a first lesson or take a course. For the intermediate, the conditions enable the excitement of blasting and chop hopping. Runs of 10 miles plus are possible on either tack; perfect for practicing waterstarts and carve gybes. The water below is so clear that you can see fish and stingrays and it is not unusual to see dolphins as you pass. For more experienced windsurfers, there are several wave sites, and of course, access to the swells of the big blue. Clear waters average a comfortable 75 to 84 °F while favorable winds blow February through June. During these months the trade winds run at 12 to 20 knots and above, 70 % of the time. Throughout the rest of the year, expect winds around 6 knots. The mean annual temperature of Belize is 80 °F. For the safety and wellbeing of all, it is required that any organization that operates a water passenger vessel or a local water sports vessel must obtain a license to operate.

After only a few hours of instruction, a beginner can learn the fundamentals of windsurfing and enjoy the calm waters of a small lake or bay.

Safety Hints for Windsurfing
The purpose of this pamphlet is to provide the beginning windsurfer a checklist of recommendations for safely participating in the challenging sport of windsurfing. After only a few hours of instruction, a beginner can learn the fundamentals of windsurfing and enjoy the calm waters of a small lake or bay. With proper training and experience, a windsurfer can eventually graduate to less sheltered waters. Windsurfing is a physically demanding activity and is not without its hazards. Those who participate should not lose sight of those demands and the proper safety preparation necessary for their own safety as well as the safety of others who share the waterway.
Shallow Water
The windsurfer should guard against falls in shallow waters or anywhere submerged objects may be present. If a fall is unavoidable, try not to fall head first. Two of the most common types of injuries sustained in falls are:
  • Head injuries from the falling rig. In a fall, raise your hands to protect your head. Foot entrapment between the board and the rig. Keep your front foot aft (towards the stern) of the base of the mast.
