DIVISION OF AERONAUTICS
Welcome to the Division of Aeronautics website! I’m Susan R. Shea Ph.D. , and I am honored to serve as Director of the Illinois Department of Transportation, Division of Aeronautics.
The mission of the Illinois Department of Transportation’s Division of Aeronautics is to further safe and efficient air travel throughout Illinois. The Illinois State Aviation System is one of the largest in the nation - it’s comprised of over 870 individual landing facilities. It’s also quite diverse - Illinois is home to everything from O’Hare International Airport, to Municipal General Aviation Airports, to private grass strips in farmers’ backyards. The services we provide to the public are as varied as our landing facilities. We assist with the creation, improvement and continued operations of public airports through financial assistance, inspection and technical oversight. We provide aviation safety and education programs to pilots, aircraft owners, mechanics and industry professionals, and we operate and maintain a number of aircraft in support of state government operations.

http://www.maineaeronautics.org/
The MAA was formed to fill a void in the state of Maine by establishing itself as a centrally recognized organization promoting the benefits of general aviation and air transportation. We work to promote aviation through education at many levels: to the public, to the users, to communities, and to state legislators. This is done through sponsoring conferences, fly-ins, education seminars and classroom participation, and FAA safety seminars. We offer inquiry and referral services on aviation safety and business development at community airports. Our newsletter, The Maine Air Times , along with this website, is published to disseminate information about our activities and aviation events around the state.
Throughout this website, you'll find information on our Committees and what they do, as well as copies of press clippings and various articles in our News Archives . We've also provided a Calendar of aviation events happening in and around Maine, and Links to related websites. Enjoy the site. And if you have more questions about us or about how we can help you, or if you would like to become a member of our organization, stop by our Contact page.

EASN: European Aeronautics Science Network
The EASN aims to bring the European universities with aeronautics activities into an integrated network, operating in parallel with industry and the national research establishments . The central element is an open, Internet based network that will enable communication between groups and will provide access to a database. More details here Universities and institutes of higher education play an important role in the formation, education and provision of engineers, technologists and scientists. At the same time, they possess a considerable capacity for performing research, both fundamental and applied, to support aeronautics and aeronautics related activity. As such, universities form an important part of the European aeronautics supply chain. More about this item here The challenge is to develop a network that will link the aeronautics community in European universities.

Our heliport/helistop involvement includes site selection, heliport/helistop and flight path design, coordinating acoustical evaluations, addressing environmental issues, and regulatory processing at all levels of government within all jurisdictions. We further provide representation at public hearings and community meetings. As a team member, we at Vertical Aeronautics International work closely with architects, engineers, contractors, government officials and aviation people to establish the safest, efficient and most functional heliport. We interact closely with all involved persons to ensure the required and desired heliport fixtures and amenities are suitable selected, properly placed and efficiently operational. Vertical Aeronautics International is not a manufacture of aluminum helidecks, heliport lighting, fire suppression equipment or other aviation related items. This enables Vertical Aeronautics International to specify and incorporate the most efficient and cost effective heliport amenities into the design and your facility. Our loyalty is to our client and not our pocket.
An EEF sample ordinance has recently been authored by Vertical Aeronautic International. The purpose of this generic type ordinance is to include the ability to utilize helicopters in the event of a high rise structure disasters, such as a terrorist attack, explosion and/or fire. Fire rescue equipment is capable of reaching a maximum height and therefore, persons on floors above that level, or on those floors above the affected area, are venerable and may not be able to exit the structure at ground level. Additionally, an EEF ordinance ensures that rescue personnel are able to also attack a building disaster (fire, explosion, terrorists attack, etc.) from street level as well as the roof. This type regulation is now required by several jurisdictions as a prerequisite to obtaining a building permit and is designed to save lives and reduce property damage.
