The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index fell 7.63 points or 2.1 percent to 350.21 in afternoon trading, while the tech-heavy Nasdaq-100 was down 2.4 percent, and the broader Nasdaq composite dropped 2.2 percent. Friday's trading was a reverse of Thursday's position, when chips fell further than the Nasdaq. The chip index had only two gainers for the session, Micron Technologies Inc., up 11 cents, at $7.68, following positive comments from Citi Investment Research analyst Glen Yeung, who said the company remains one of his "focus ideas." And Advanced Micro Devices Inc. gained 18 cents, or 2.6 percent, to $7.20, following a report on a German Web site that the company has plans to release two mobile platforms.
