She performed a vast range of music, giving the premieres of several works, including the Piano Sonata by Frank Bridge in 1925. From 1922 she became well known in the United States and toured regularly. She also performed as a duo with her friend, Irene Scharrer. Towards the end of her career Hess gravitated towards the works of the Classical period, becoming known for her performances of Mozartâs concertos, and of the keyboard works of J. S.
